Microbial life found living on the exterior of the International Space Station

Tardigrades

According to the UK Independent, “Vladimir Solovyev, the official in charge of Russia’s ISS segment, told the news agency Itar-Tass that tiny plankton and microscopic organisms had been discovered on the spacecraft’s exterior”.

Last year, a group of scientists at Georgia Institute of Technology found evidence of microbial life five to ten miles above the Earth’s surface.

Moreover, as this blog has noted, Tardigrades have been found to withstand even in the vacuum, cold and radiation of outer space.

Life never ceases to amaze.
